Tarot Card of the Month: March

Written by Nikki Aggarwal of Loving Light 11.

“All systems of divination can be tools for connecting to another world. Join me as we explore one Tarot card each month to discover how the Tarot can serve as a pathway to spiritual awakening and aligning with your personal sovereignty." - Nikki Aggarwal

As I shuffled through my trusty Tarot deck, I held the following intention in my heart: What card would most serve the readers in the third month of 2025?

Our result?

The King of Wands!

In contrast to the cards we received for January and February (Five of Cups and Eight of Swords, respectively), the King of Wands emerges as an empowered figure—standing at the pinnacle of life’s passions and holding space for what is good in the world.

A person who embodies their inner King of Wands is clear about who they are and able to express themselves with confidence. The suit of Wands corresponds to the element of fire, which represents passion, will, drive, and desire.

When you align with the King of Wands’ energy, you may find yourself eager to speak your truth, sharing what matters most to you with anyone who will listen. However, if you lean too far into this energy’s extreme, you may start imposing your beliefs, ideologies, or desires onto others. At that point, you’ve shifted from an empowered, sovereign expression of this card into its wounded, disempowered state.

The King of Wands is a natural leader, capable of organizing people, events, and situations where others might hesitate. In its strength, this card embodies honesty, reliability, loyalty, maturity, sympathy, and friendliness. In its shadow, it reveals excessiveness, intolerance, harshness, arrogance, and dogmatic tendencies.

The overarching question to ask yourself when encountering the King of Wands is: How will I direct the power and passion I hold inside? Will you channel this energy to create something that serves the highest good? Or will you apply it in a way that serves only yourself, potentially overpowering others in the process?

Neither path is inherently good or bad if chosen consciously. If your actions are more self-focused, as long as your intent is aligned with your highest good, you are still contributing to the greater whole. The challenge arises when your actions infringe on the rights, free will, or sovereignty of others. At that point, tension and contrast emerge, and the energy you put out into the world may eventually return to you—why invite unnecessary struggle?

Ultimately, the King of Wands encourages us to own our fire and not fear authority figures. If your intuition is guiding you toward a specific path—to build something new from the ground up and have a clear vision of what you want to achieve—this card urges you to trust that inner knowing. Transformation takes time, but daily commitment, devotion, and support from others—paired with a clear plan of action—will help turn your vision into reality.

With the arrival of the Spring Equinox this month, it’s fitting that we’ve drawn a fire-suit card. So, the question for you is: What will you do with the fire inside you, waiting to be expressed? Will you smother it with doubt and fear, or will you fuel it with focus, drive, and action? Fire has the power to transmute energy. Consider allowing your inner flame to burn away the old, making space for more of your soul’s essence to shine through. As you learn to hold more of your soul’s light, you simultaneously step deeper into your personal sovereignty.
